Our Story

Jewellery – it’s seen as an indulgence by many, a beautiful luxury. But it’s also something more – it can be a keepsake, a symbol or a token of love that can be passed on from generation to generation. Since I was a little boy, I’ve been fond of browsing jewellery shops. They would always attract my attention, with their beautiful wares, and I would be so absorbed I could stay looking in the shop for hours. When I grew into an adult I thought that my previous fascination with jewellery was just a childlike interest. Because children are naturally drawn to shiny objects and glittering jewels! That was until I met the love of my life (my wife) in 2006.
When I set out to choose the perfect wedding ring for my wife, I felt inspired to study the types of stones used, how they were cut, and how the silver and gold was crafted for each piece. With more knowledge, my interest in jewellery grew and I dreamed of one day opening up my own jewellery boutique.
I live my life by the mantra that “nothing is impossible if your dream is not too big”. I believe in this wholeheartedly. Everyone has a dream, but there is a difference between realizing what kind of dream can become a reality with hard work and effort, and what is just a nice idea. Since the day I proposed to my wife, I thought about the idea of opening a jewellery shop every day. It was a turning point in my life – a goal that I aspired to and one that I shared with my wife too. It was a wish that we cherished together.
After three years of research and learning about art of making jewellery, I decided to open a jewellery shop with my long time friend and business partner, Nhat. Nhat shared the same dream as I did and so we went ahead and opened Water Lily Jewellery in 2009.  The Water Lily flower bears a graceful beauty that symbolizes the brightness of souls. It is a strong symbol in the East – one that represents Buddhism, love and spiritual renewal. For me it represents the eternal love I have for my wife and family and the faithfulness of our conjugal sentiment. It is a name that gives our business meaning – and hopefully one that inspires our customers.

Our business is based on the following principle:  Quality and good craftsmanship are the most important factors. The market is always changing, there is always something new to learn and we must listen to our customers to polish our best practices.
Building a business name and a brand is important. But we must not forget that everything comes down to customer satisfaction. We hope, together with you, to maintain the best possible service and products that we can.
When you come to our shop we hope you will feel welcome and at ease. We can consult with you about which jewellery styles may suit you best. You are also free to see your own jewellery being custom made. Our silversmiths work at the back of the shop – if you want to watch the process step-by-step you are welcome!
Remember that when you buy jewellery as a gift it is one that lasts. You impart a sense of yourself, a part of your soul goes into the gift. It is a gift that can be cherished for the duration of a lifetime.
